German-born Ghanaian striker Anton Donkor has signed for German third-tier side SV Waldhof Mannheim.

The 22-year-old joins SV Waldhof Mannheim on a free transfer after departing relegated Carl Zeiss Jena, where he had 29 appearances in the third division last season.

“The SVW played a very strong round. I want to help build on that. It is my goal to assert myself here at SV Waldhof and to take the next step in my career, " he told the club's official website

SV Waldhof sporting director, Jochem Kientz also spoke highly of the qualities of the Ghanaian winger as he can still feature for their youth team set-up.

"Anton enjoyed his strengths, particularly on the left-wing, and also a very good education. He brings a certain physical presence to the court and also falls under the U23 regulation. It fits very well into our requirement profile, ” Kientz said on the same club forum.

Anton was trained in the youth of VfL Wolfsburg and then moved to England to represent FC Everton. He came to Jena last season via the VfL Wolfsburg U23 and FC Hansa Rostock stations.

He was born in Germany to a Ghanaian father and a German mother.

Donkor can switch allegiance and play for the Black Stars as he is yet to play for the Germany senior national team.
