Ghanaian striker Kwasi Okyere Wriedt played a key role as Åanlıurfaspor earned a 2-0 away win over Pendikspor in Round 35 of the Turkish 1. Lig on Saturday afternoon.
Wriedt, 30, opened the scoring in the 15th minute, tapping in from close range after a clever assist by Amar Begic. The goal was his sixth of the season in 34 appearances. He was lively throughout his 68 minutes on the pitch, linking up well with teammates and pressing high up the field.
Pendikspor thought they had equalized just before the break, but Jetmir Topalli’s effort was ruled out after a VAR check. That decision kept Åanlıurfaspor ahead at halftime.
The visitors sealed the result late in the game when Uchenna Ogundu fired home in the 88th minute following an assist from Bouly Sambou. The win extends Åanlıurfaspor’s unbeaten head-to-head run against Pendikspor, with two wins from two meetings.
Next up, Åanlıurfaspor will host Manisa FK on April 27 as they continue their fight to avoid relegation.
