In-form Ghanaian loan winger Lloyd Sam has paid tribute to the faith shown in him by Notts County boss Keith Curle after his treble for the Magpies on Easter Monday.

The Leeds United midfielder, who joined Notts on loan until the end of the season last month, helped propel the Meadow Lane outfit into the League One play-off zone after firing a hat-trick in their 3-1 home success over Yeovil Town.

It sealed a happy Easter for the 27-year-old, pictured above, whose Elland Road deal expires in June, with the Leeds-born player also netting in the Magpies’ 3-0 triumph at Leyton Orient on Good Friday to take his goal tally since arriving in the East Midlands to an impressive five.

Sam, who could tackle Simon Grayson’s Huddersfield Town with his team-mates if Notts finish in the play-offs, said: “I felt like I needed a manager to believe in me and he’s done that.

“This is the most I’ve scored in a season – in five games – that why I jumped on the gaffer (at the end).

“Normally, these things happen and I wake up from my dream – and I’m not joking! I’m guessing this isn’t a dream right now, so I’ll be looking after the matchball.”

Sam was named in the League One team of the week following his exploits over the Easter period.
