Ghanaian teen Pierre Dwomoh getting plenty opportunities at Antwerp

Belgian-born Ghanaian midfielder Pierre Dwomoh seems to have made the decision to part ways with Genk and join fellow top-flight club Antwerp.

Dwomoh left Genk in search of first-team opportunities and he has gotten plenty at Antwerp this season.

Dwomoh has so far played five times for Antwerp, where he made his debut in the Europa League at Fenerbahçe.

Since then, there have been substitutions against Club Brugge and again Fenerbahçe, while he even kicked off against Westerlo and Anderlecht. Against the Purple & White he formed a triangle in midfield with Yusuf and Nainggolan.

Antwerp paid 1.5 million euros in the summer to take over Dwomoh from KRC Genk, where he had already been allowed to fill in twice for the main force last season.

After the new year, however, the top talent ended up in the B squad, after a collision with promise coach Hans Somers during a practice match.

He had many options including AC Milan but he turned them down after they failed to assure him of consistent playing time.

Dwomoh was born in Ghent and started his career at Mechelen before moving to Anderlecht and ended up at Genk in 2016.

Dwomoh parted ways with Genk after five years, signing a long-term deal with Antwerp in April 2021.
