Ghanaians to watch out for in Uefa Champions League tonight

Published on: 23 November 2011

Four Ghanaian players are expected in action for their clubs on Wednesday night in the penultimate Group games of the Uefa Champions League.

Kevin-Prince Boateng's AC Milan have progressed to the knock out stage and will be in action against champions Barcelona in the night's top liner.

Below is a preview of tonight's Uefa Champions League games involving Ghanaian players.

MARSEILLE VS OLYMPIAKOS

There is a lot of Ghanaian interest in Group F in particular because of two Ghana internationals.

At the Stade Velodrome, Didier Deschamps could name young attacker Jordan Ayew upfront as he seeks to complete a double victory over the Greek giants.

The 20-year-old has featured in Marseille games more than any other player apart from Jeremy Morel who has also played 14 games same as Jordan.

Andre, his senior brother and Marseille's linchpin, is expected to be the catalyst for tonight's game.

Prediction: Marseille 2-0 Olympiakos

ARSENAL VS BORUSSIA DORTMUND

Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong looks likely to continue his spell outside the first 18 once more.

The 19-year-old hard-tackling dozy midfielder trained with the first team but its unlikely whether he will make Arsene Wenger's cut for the bench.

If he is lucky, he will watched the action a bit closer; that is from the dug-out.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-1 Borussia Dortmund

AC MILAN VS BARCELONA

This game will obviously stretch beyond its supposed relevance because it will be a battle for supremacy in Group H.

Bate Borisov and Viktoria Plzen could not match the classy and quality presented by these two Europe's greats. Neither of the side have been able to establish a commanding authority over the other in their past three meetings in Milan.

The Rossoneri have one victory on home turf while Barcelona defeated them 1-0 in the 2006/07 season. Massimilano Allegri will welcome back his enforcer Kevin-Prince Boateng into midfield.

The last time they played at the San Siro in the competition, it was the 24-year-old who sealed the victory with a cracking effort from 35 yards.

The former German youth international will try to thrill Ghanaians with yet another inspirational cameo in midfield against masters of the orchestra in this business.

Prediction: AC Milan 1-0 Barcelona.
