Ghanaian youngster Aaron Opoku set to undergo surgery over lung collapse at German second tier side Hamburg SV.

The 19 year old, who was promoted to the senior side after a spectacular campaign at the U-19 side will undergoes several test and a surgery to check his fitness ahead of the new campaign.

Aaron Opoku complained of chest pains in the club's friendly against Danish second division FC Frederica on Saturday.

Physiotherapist Jörg Fick responded immediately and had Opoku brought to the AK Altona, where it was determined that the lung threatened to invade. The talent was not operated on, is out of danger but remains in the hospital for further observation.

The 19 year old talented midfielder was promoted from the Under-19 after a successful campaign last season, where he scored 15 goals from 23 appearance.

Hamburg were relegated for the first time in the Bundesliga history last season after losing to Burrossia Monchenglabach in a crucial game last season.

Hamburg were the only side to stay in the division for that whole time, earning them the nickname Der Dino: not even Bayern Munich, who came up in 1965, had boasted such a lengthy continuous run among the German elite.
