Ex Ghana FA boss Ben Koufie feels the Black Stars team is not being appreciated enough following their ‘magnificent’ qualification to the 2014 World Cup.

The Black Stars will be making its third successive appearance at next year’s finals in Brazil.

Ghana is however drawn in a tough group which includes Germany, Portugal and USA.

Several football pundits have tipped the two European sides in Group G to progress beyound the group stage at the expense of Ghana and the USA.

Even some Ghanaians believe it will take some doing to see the Black Stars make it out of this tough group.

But Ben Koufie who feels Akwasi Appiah’s team are not being given its due praise by Ghanaians thinks otherwise.

“Since Germany beat us 1-0 at the last World Cup, what have they done to strike so much fear amongst Ghanaians,” he quizzed Metro FM’s Kwadwo Kwao Thompson.

“If it’s about attack, if our attack wasn’t that sharp will we be able to beat Egypt 6-1?

“Beat teams four – score two goals on the average per game?

“Why don’t we appreciate the fact that our team is doing well and that they need support.

“Why should the Black Stars be thought of as an inferior side despite the many recent achievements. What do Ghanaians want?

“It is not good, you don’t discourage your own team, you rather praise them and encourage them.

“Did they just qualify? They won matches and won them magnificently. That puts hope and confidence in them and that is what people must appreciate.”
