Ghanaians return to action to the German Bundesliga

The German Bundesliga returned over the weekend to some thrills and excitement, although without fans, after a two month enforced break by COVID-19.

Eight out of nine games have been played, with Werder Bremen set to face Bayer Leverkusen on Monday night to complete the set of matches for Match Day 29.

Two Ghanaian players were involved in action over the weekend in the German topflight league despite huge anticipation from a list that includes players.

Christopher Antwi-Adjei and Kingsley Schindler were the only Ghanaian players in action, with the former playing 88 minutes of the game between SC Paderborn and Fortuna Dusseldorf. Kingsley Schindler was a second half substitute in FC Koln's 2-2 draw with Mainz O5.

Antwi-Adjei was heavily involved in a game that should have starred the most Ghanaians in the Bundesliga, despite being replaced with two minutes left by Anthony Evans.

Non of the Ghanaian contingent featured for Fortuna Dusseldorf. Bernard Tekpetey was ruled out with injury, Kassim Adams and Nana Ampomah were not included in the match day squad but there was a place for teen sensation Kelvin Ofori.

German born Ghanaian Kingsley Schindler was thrown into the game between FC Koln and Mainz in the 72nd minute as the Billy Goats threw away a two goal lead to draw 2-2.
