Africa Sports 'reveals' Ghana's squad for Cup of Nations

Published on: 08 December 2011

Africa Sports newspaper, led by respected editor Kwabena Yeboah , has revealed a squad it claims it is Ghana's final squad for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Turkey-based striker Dominic Adiyiah was axed from the team revealed by the newspaper.

But surprisingly defender John Boye made it to the final team, claims the newspaper.

The only natural left-back Massawudu Alhassan was excluded from the team as well as the impressive Charles Takyi and Korea-based Derek Asamoah and Jeff Schlupp

But Jordan Ayew made the final team that had two home-based goalkeepers but excluded Sammy Adjei and Richard Kingson.

Below is the full article from Africa Sport:

Black Stars manager 'Plavi' Goran Stevanovic has exactly seven days to present his 23-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Not expectedly, Ghanaian football fans are as unquiet as solicitous about who dons the proud red, gold and green outfit with the Black Stars in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

No official list has yet been released by the technical team headed by Goran Stevanovic who is expected back from his native Serbia this weekend to finalize arrangement for the Stars trip to South Africa.

Indeed, FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi has been quick to quash and invalidate the list of players in some media quarters purported to be representative of the FA's official position.

Plavi is expected to meet the FA next week December 13 to defend his decisions before his highly anticipated meeting with members of the media on 15 December.

He will fly back to Serbia soon after these meetings.

AFRICA SPORTS investigations, based on unimpeachable sources close to the technical team is convinced the following players are likely to make the squad to Gabon/Equatorial Guinea.

Goalkeepers: Adam Kwarasey, Daniel Agyei, Ernest Sowah

Defenders: John Pantsil, Samuel Inkoom, Daniel Opare , Jonathan Mensah, John Boye, Isaac Vorsah, John Mensah, Lee Addy.

Midfielders: Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Kwadwo Asamoah, Derek Boateng, Sulley Muntari, Anthony Annan, Mohammed Abu, Albert Adomah, Andre Ayew

Forward: Asamoah Gyan, Prince Tagoe, Quincy Owusu-Abeyie, Jordan Ayew.

The list maybe altered if there are extraordinary circumstances in the next few days.

Don't be too surprised if players like Derek Asamoah, Charles Takyi, Masawudu Alhassan and Dominic Adiyiah find their ways into the squad.
