Ghana U-20 coach Desmond Ofei says his outfits long-term target is secure the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations title in Egypt.

The Black Satellites are drawn into Group C and will compete with defending champions, Senegal, DR Congo and Central Africa Republic for a place in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Ghana, who are four-time winners of the continental trophy will be hoping prove themselves again on the African stage, having recently fallen.

Speaking to CAF media, Ofei, who double as the assistant coach of the Black Stars disclosed the side immediate goal is progress to the knockout stage while eyeing the prestigious trophy is the long run.

“Our immediate goal is to get out of the group stage. From there, we take it one step at a time. Of course, the long-term aim is to win the tournament and qualify for the U-20 World Cup, but we’ll do that by staying consistent and focused on the process” he said.

The top two teams from each group, plus the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals.

The tournament is set to kick off on Sunday, April 27, 2025, and will conclude with the final on May 18, 2025.

The stakes are high. Not only is continental supremacy on the line, but the top four finishers will secure their ticket to the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile — a stage where Ghana has previously etched its name in history as the only African team to lift the trophy.
