Ghana’s air-tight defence at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup was finally breached for the first time in three games by France.

The Black Maidens had gone a staggering 371 minutes without conceding until Kadidiatou Diani’s 31st minute strike in the semi final game on Tuesday.

It took another 58 minutes for Diani to grab a brace which effectively ended Ghana’s fairy tale story in Azerbaijan.

The gallant girls had shut up shop at the back since their opening group defeat to Germany.

The team complimented their defensive superiority by scoring goals at the other end with lead striker Jane Ayieyam the main tormentor.

Ghana however failed to get a sniff at goal against the Europeans and ultimately let their guard down at the rear where the team’s strength lies.
