Ghana’s hopes of luring Hudson-Odoi on rocks after England call-up

Ghana’s hopes of seeing Chelsea wonder-kid Callum Hudson-Odoi in a Black Stars jersey appears to have been dashed following his call-up into the England senior national team ahead of their EURO 2020 qualifiers against Czech Republic and Montenegro.

The 18-year-old whose dad, Bismarck Odoi played for Accra Hearts Of Oak, was initially included in the England Under-21 squad and was expected to make his debut for The Young Lions in friendlies against Poland  and Germany.

However, shortly after joining up with Aidy Boothroyd's squad he was told to instead join up with Gareth Southgate's senior side at St George's Park.

Hudson-Odoi who was part of England’s World Cup winning side at the U-17 level in India in 2017 is still eligible to play for the Black Stars until he makes his debut for England in a competitive match.

This is likely to happen as the young prodigy’s recent form With Chelsea, especially in the UEFA Europa League is what has earned him the call up to Gary Southgathe’s team and erases any hopes of ever seeing him play for the Black Stars.
