Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi has played down St. Gallen Swiss Super League title challenge.

Ati-Zigi joined the club from French Ligue 2 side FC Sochaux during the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old custodian was signed as a replacement for Dejan Stojanovic, who left the Swiss club to England to join Middlesborough.

He has quickly endeared himself to the club’s faithful with consistent performances.

Ati-Zigi presence has guided the club to the summit of the Swiss League with 44 points, same as second place side Young Boys, after 22 round of matches.

“We still have some games to play. We cannot decide what will happen. We just have to focus on every game now. Game by game. And then we see what comes out.”

It is the third time the Ghana goalkeeper is working under coach Peter Zeidler after the pair worked at Red Bull Salzburg, FC Liefering and Sochaux.

“For me he is an important person, he is really very good to me and he is also a very good coach. He is like a father to me. He loves to support the players. He is always there for his players. He is really very good to me,” Swiss newspaper Blick.
