Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru lifted his maiden career title after helping Red Bull Salzburg thump Austria Lustenau 5-0 to win the 2019/20 Austria OFB Cup on Friday.

Ashimeru joined the Austrian giants from Ghana Premier League outfit WAFA SC in 2017.

The 22-year-old was however shipped on loan to Austria Lustenau and Wolfsburger AC before landing at Swiss side St. Gallen to continue his development.

He returned to Red Bull Salzburg last summer in a bid to force his way into the first team after excelling in Switzerland where he played 34 matches and netted 8 goals.

Ashimeru has added steel to Jesse Marsch’s side midfield with his tenacious display in the 22 matches played before Friday's Austrian Cup final against Austria Lustenau at the Wörthersee Stadion.

The Ghanaian scribbled his name in the club’s folklore when he scored the game’s fourth goal as the Bulls run riot their opponents 5-0.

It happens to be Ashimeru’s maiden trophy in his young career.

Red Bull Salzburg are in action again on Wednesday when they host Rapid Vienna to the Red Bull Arena in first match of the season resumption.
