Midfielder Michael Essien has distanced himself from reports linking him away from AC Milan this summer but focused on the impending World Cup.

Essien moved to the San Siro this January on free transfer from English side and managed seven appearances in the Serie A.

Clarence Seedorf, the coach who signed him is on the verge of losing his job, and that has fueled talks about Essien’s departure.

But his representative Frenchman Fabien Pivateau has says his client’s attention is now on international football and not club matters.

“Now is the World Cup and he is concentrated only on this,” Essien’s agent Fabien Piveteau told Tuttomercatoweb.com

“His head is only on the World Cup in Brazil at the moment, he doesn’t want distractions, only focused on the World Cup.”

Essien is making a return to the World Cup finals after missing the last tournament in South Africa due to injury.
