Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila was at his usual best for Al Qadsia as they tamed Al Kuwait in the Kuwaiti Super Cup on Thursday afternoon .

After playing out a cagey first half, Brazilian forward James Dens struck beautifully in the 72nd minute to send Al Qadsia fans at the Al Kuwait Sports Club Stadium into ecstasy mood.

Al Kuwaiti however in their bid to send the game into extra time put up a fight in the dying embers of the match but Al Qadsia’s steady defense marshalled by Rashid Sumaila stood to the test to win the match 1-0.

This is the second trophy for the Ghana international at the club after helping win the 2018 Crown Prince Cup.

Sumaila has been a stalwart for the Royals since returning from an unsuccessful loan spell at Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade in the summer.

He has enjoyed 6 leagues games for the side as they sit 2nd on the league log behind Al Kuwait.
