Asante Kotoko will play New Edubiase in the Ghana Super Cup contest on September 30, the Ghana FA has confirmed.

The annual one-off game was revived last season following the resurrection of the FA Cup after a ten-year absence.

This year’s contest will see Premier League winners Asante Kotoko take on New Edubiase who won the FA Cup.

The match will be played on Sunday September 30th – exactly a week befoe the proposed commencement of the Premier League season.

“The league is expected to start on October 7 but a week before that which is September 30th, the winner of the league will play the winner of the FA Cup,” Ghana FA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi disclosed at a ceremony to hand a 14-seater mini bus to Kotoko for their Premier League feat.

“Therefore it means Asante Kotoko will face New Edubiase for us to see who the champion of champion is.”

Last season saw Division One club Nania FC emerging winners of the Super Cup after beating Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Super Cup contest has been dedicated to the memory of renowned football administrator Alhaji Sly Tetteh who died in September last year.
