Ghana's World Cup opponents, Germany kept their confidence high as they continued their build-up to the World Cup with a solid 3-0 victory over Hungary.

Goals from Lukas Podolski, Mario Gomez and Cacau sealed the result but there were encouraging performances thoughout the team for manager Joachim Low to ponder.

The Germans took the lead within just four minutes.

Centre-back Per Mertesacker went forward for a corner and had his shirt pulled bySandor Torghelle. A penalty was duly awarded and Podolski confidently stepped up to fire past Gabor Kiraly.

Despite dominating the first-half possession, with Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira the standout performers in midfield, Germany couldn’t add to the scoreline before the break.

Ozil and Khedira were replaced by Cacau and Dennis Aogo with both having stated their credentials for a place in the starting lineup at the finals.

After the restart, Die Nationalmannschaft ceded more possession to the hosts but proved to be more incisive when on the attack.

They doubled their lead on 69 minutes with Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez the scorer. Good work by Marko Marin saw him pick out Gomez’s run though the middle.

The powerful striker almost lost the opportunity when his heavy first touch put the ball close to onrushing Kiraly but Gomez reacted quickly to poke the ball through the keeper’s legs and into the net.

Three minutes later Cacau made his case for inclusion with a well-taken goal.

Seizing on a loose ball just outside the box, the striker had only one thing on his mind as he drover forward, skipped around Kiraly and stroked the ball into an empty net.

Manager Low said he had learned a lot from the match and singled outKhedira for praise, revealing he had been substituted as a precaution against injury.

“Khedira played very well in the first half," Loew said "I liked him. He was also very good in organising the game."

Germany play Bosnia-Herzegovina in their final pre-tournament match before flying to South Africa where they face Australia in their opening game on June 13.
