GHPL Week 15: Dauda Mohammed stars for wounded Porcupine Warriors but Hearts slip to 4th

Published on: 30 May 2016

The Ultimate fixture of the Ghana Premier League went down with All Stars maintaining their lead.

The Pride of Wa went all the way to Berekum to pip Chelsea by a lone goal. Richard Arthur, same player whose goal against Kotoko propelled them to the summit of the league scored the only goal at the Golden City Park to make sure All Stars finish the first round as sole leaders.

Aduana Stars lived up to their recent free scoring tag in the ultimate fixture of the first round of the league.

They ended the first round in style, putting four past Bechem United. Bright Adjei and Yahaya Mohammed got a brace each sending the latter's goal tally to 11 in 15 games. Abednego Tetteh and Aminu Mohammed got 2 consolation goals for Bechem United.

At the Baba Yara Stadium, it was the 'Dauda Mohammed show' as the Porcupine Warriors beat Techiman City by 4 goals to 2.

Youngster Dauda Mohammed netted a hat-trick for the reds with Tuffour Frimpong scoring the other. It was the 3rd hat-trick of the season with Samuel Tetteh and Yahaya Mohammed scoring the other two.

Though the fabulous fans will be happy seeing their team score four goals for the first time in this season they were not happy watching the defence conceding two goals from Iddrisu Mohammad and Ebenezer Agyapong.

Coach Michael Osei will be happy to see his team end the first round 3rd on the log same point as 2nd and 4th placed club Aduana Stars and Hearts of Oaks.

Talking about Hearts of Oaks the Phobia Boys slipped further the league log having picked only a point from their away trip to Dreams FC.

Striker Lawson Bekui gave the home side the lead in the 17th minute. It was his 7th of the season.

C.K Akornor's charges were by far the better side in the first half of the game and could've ended the half with more than a goal had they utilized their chances.

Typical of the Phobias this season they returned for the 2nd half a transformed side. They did fetched an equalizer in the 83rd for their positive play after recess but the point they got from the game left them disappointed with their title rivals All Stars, Aduana and Kotoko winning their respective games.

Kenichi Yatsuhashi will now be feeling the pressure associated with managing a giant with his club falling from first to 4th within a matter of days.

They still managed to end the first round as the only unbeaten side away from home.

Coaches Jimmy Cobblah and Prosper Nartey continued their rescue mission at Inter Allies and Ebusua Dwarfs respectively with a vital point away from home.

Gockle Ahortor cancelled out Suleman Ibrahim's goal to earn a draw for Inter Allies against Hasaacas.

Kingsley Nteng scored Ebusua Dwarfs's equaliser having gone down to an early Tamimu Muntari strike.

After threatening to exit the league New Edubiase managed to travel to Tarkwa as guest to Medeama SC.

The Tarkwa Mauves showed no mercy on them beating them by two goals to nil. Daniel Amoah scored the opener with Akwesi Donsu once again netting with a brilliant free kick. His 5th  of the season.

Earlier on Saturday young goalkeeper Razak Abalora was the hero of the day helping WAFA hold Ashanti Gold to a drawn game at the Len Clay Stadium.

The youngster saved Mohammad Dauda's penalty. That wasn't the only highlight as he pulled of many fantastic saves. The miners finish the first round without a win in their last 7 games.

The 2nd of the league will commence on the 26th of June but before that Medeama SC will clear their two outstanding games against Liberty Professionals and Techiman City.
