Giampaolo: Sampdoria only played in flashes

Late drama saw Sampdoria throw away three points as they drew 3-3 at Fiorentina on Sunday afternoon but Marco Giampaolo doesn’t believe his side deserved to win.

Fiorentina played most of the 90 minutes with 10 men but Samp failed to go in front until the 85th minute and the Blucerchiati boss wasn’t best pleased after the game.

“It’s true that we were winning ten minutes from the end but in the 95 we did very little to win this game,” Giampaolo said to the press afterwards.

“We made simple mistakes and we were only at about 30 per cent, so maybe I did something wrong.

“If we played like the Samp we know then we would have won, but we only appeared in flashes.”

Fabio Quagliarella scored for a tenth consecutive Serie A match, which Giampaolo praised.

“He is a quality player,” the coach said.

“He is our ‘bomber’.

“He can sense the goal and he knows how to untangle himself to get free.”
