Maritzburg United No.1 goalkeeper Richard Ofori is said to be on the wish list of giants Orlando Pirates.

The Buccaneers have expressed doubts about the current stock of goalkeepers in their ranks.

Wayne Sandilands had to be recalled for the team’s last three matches against Esperance in both the home and away legs of their CAF Champions League fixtures, and the recent Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs.

Jackson Mabokgwane has been deputising for Sandilands, while Siyabonga Mpontshane, who appeared to be Bucs’ number one earlier on in the season, appears to have fallen down the pecking order.

Brilliant Khuzwayo is still in the treatment room recovering from an injury.

''Orlando Pirates are interested in Richard Ofori from Maritzburg United. With inconsistencies and injuries in their goalkeeping department, the club is considering making an offer for Ofori for next season,'' said the source.

Ofori signed for Maritzburg in 2017 from Wa All Stars on a three-year deal having impressed on trial at Mamelodi Sundowns.

His consistency has made him first choice gloves man for Ghana ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
