Gideon Mensah backs Black Stars to overcome player withdrawals

Ghana defender Gideon Mensah has expressed confidence in the Black Stars' ability to cope with the withdrawal of eight key players ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The absentees include Premier League duo Antoine Semenyo and Tariq Lamptey, Alexander Djiku, Jerome Opoku, Ibrahim Osman, Jonas Adjetey, and Inaki Williams.

Despite the setbacks, Mensah believes the called-up replacements can fill the void. "Every player is crucial, but we have capable alternatives," he said after Monday's training.

"It's a big loss, but we have a team to cover their absence. I'm not worried; everyone is vital, and if one player isn't available, another will step up."

Head coach Otto Addo has summoned Austin FC's Osman Bukari, Terry Yegbe, Kingsley Schindler, Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer, Forson Amankwah, and Ebenezer Annan to bolster the squad.

The Black Stars face Angola in Luanda on Friday, and Mensah's optimism will be crucial in motivating the team.
