Telecommunications giants, Glo Mobile Ghana have paid $1.2m to the Ghana FA as part-payment of its sponsorship of the Premier League.
Bulk of the amount will go to the clubs as commitment payment in the five year deal worth $15m.
The remaining amount will be used to settle referee fees and other administrative costs involved in the running of the 16-team league.
Ghana FA President Kwasi Nyantakyi expressed delight at the payment made after a meeting with Gloââ¬â¢s Chief Operating officer, George Andah last week especially at a time when complaints by clubs over the delay of sponsorship payments were simmering.
ââ¬ÅThe latest payment from Glo is very timely four our clubs and we thank Glo that they have continued their support for the club,â⬠Nyantakyi said.
The current Premier League leaders Asante Kotoko have already revealed they will be using their quota of the payment (about $40,000) as down payment for a recently incurred 99,000 Euro fine to be paid to German coach Hans Dieter Schmidt for his wrongful dismissal in 2005.
