Telecommunication giants Globacom have announced it will begin commercial operations in Ghana in January next year.

Globacom, owned by Nigerian business tycoon Mike Adenuga have failed through several challenges to commence actual operations in Ghana since acquiring the license to do so in 2008.

However, its Chief Operating Officer, George Andah revealed during the Glo Caf Awards ceremony in Accra that all impediments have now been cleared for Globacom to commence commercial operations.

“I am happy to announce that on Thursday 19th January 2012, Glo will launch its commercial operations in Ghana,” he said.

The news will certainly receive massive reception by Ghanaians who have had to wait this long for the actual operations of Glo despite spotting several of its billboards in town since its entrance to the Ghanaian market.

The news also means, the Ghana Premier League which is being sponsored by Glo will receive all of its sponsorship benefits on schedule as its (Glo) inactivity has been cited as one of the reasons for the delay in the sponsorship monies.
