Ex-Ghana No.1 goalkeeper Fatau Dauda is considering authoring a book on his career to serve as a motivation to up and coming footballers.

The Madina-born wants to open up on struggles and how he overcame adversities to reach the very top in his goalkeeping career- starring at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

"I have gone through a lot in my career and I believe I have an inspiring story to tell the next generation of footballers,'' Dauda told the Ghana News Agency.

"One of my greatest desires is to put into writing what I have gone through as a footballer and my struggles in the national team.

"I remember very well how I defied the advice of my mother to choose football ahead of education.

"She was never happy with my decision but I was convinced with what I wanted to do so I stuck by that. I also have fond memories of how I felt I would be denied food after playing in a community match at Madina.

"My first competitive match was in a community match at Madina. I did so well to the admiration of the huge crowd there. I thought would be denied supper by my mother and to my surprise, I was served with a lot of food and meat when I got home.

"Apparently, my mother was among the crowd that watched the match and saw how I was hailed by the crowd.''

Dauda started his professional career with Okwahu United before joining AshantiGold where he spent close to seven years and helped them to win the Ghana Premier League.

This was followed by an ill-fated spell at Orlando Pirates but he managed to revive his career at Nigerian side Enyimba FC where he won the league too.

"But I must admit that without discipline and commitment, you cannot make it to the top,'' he added.

Before the suspension of all football activities in the country due to coronavirus, Dauda was captain of Legon Cities FC in the Ghana Premier League.
