Godin: I came to Inter to win

Inter have confirmed the signing of Diego Godin on a free transfer from Atletico Madrid, in a deal which will keep the Uruguayan defender at the club until 2022.

Godin leaves Atletico after nine years with the club after failing to agree to a new contract and he joins the Nerazzurri having been linked with a move to for some time.

He was officially announced on the club’s Twitter page on Tuesday morning and Inter confirmed on their website that he has signed a contract which will take him up until June 30, 2022.

“I came to Inter to win, to give my best, putting my heart and soul into it on and off the pitch,” he said.

“For me, a new challenge and a new experience is set to start. Inter are a great team and one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

“I have a real desire to keep competing at the highest level, to keep giving my all on and off the pitch to help this great team achieve big things.”
