Gov't will support football clubs through YEA- GHALCA boss

Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) boss, Kudjoe Fianoo has disclosed that government is preparing a special package to support football clubs amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The GHALCA boss had earlier on voiced out his frustrations at government for neglecting the clubs in the COVID-19 stimulus package to be shared for distressed organizations by the National Small Scale Industries (NSSI).

The former AshantiGold Sporting Club Chief Executive Officer says he has been hinted by sources from government that the Youth Employment Agency is preparing to come to the aid of football clubs in the country.

"I have being hinted by a high powered source that Government still has plans for us and that said package is meant for the playing body thus the statement from the ministry of Youth and Sports", he told Oyerepa FM.

"Government has so many ways of meeting our needs and the YEA(YOUTH EMPLOYMENT AGENCY) could be a channel that package for the playing body can come from. Let's not forget the MOYS plays a dual role in sports and also the youth sector because the players or athletes are also youth", he added.

Ghana's Sports Ministry issued a letter on Wednesday to rubbish reports in the media that it has neglected the sporting sector in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
