Newly promoted Ghana Premier League side, Accra Lions FC, has announced the signing of forward Progress Uzondu Nwachukwu.

The 21-year-old Nigerian joins the Accra-based club from Yobo Football Club in Lagos.

The strong forward is seen as replacement for striker Evans Etti who left for China in the transfer window, and a perfect compliment for last season's top scorer Rauf Salifu.

“We are very pleased to welcome Progress to the ALFC family,” said Accra Lions Sporting Director Rainer Kraft.

“His signing is the latest example of our intention to add promising young players to our squad. With his skillset, we believe that Progress will complement our current attacking players very well.”

Meanwhile, head of scouting Paul Goodrich identified the quality that made Accra Lions chase his signature.

“His assertiveness in 1v1 situations in the box is impressive," said Goodrich.

Accra Lions have been preparing for the start of the Ghana Premier League with some friendly games. They defeated Ghana Premier League champions Hearts of Oak 3-2 in one of their preparatory games.
