One of the longest match days in history ended on Wednesday afternoon.

Match day 14, which commenced with 3 matches on Saturday, was for some peculiar reason cut in half with the remaining 4 fixtures moved to mid week.

The logic behind the perplexing decision to postpone the matches is still unknown, but despite the murkiness of the situation, the teams did not allow themselves to get caught up or absorbed in the drama and showcased tremendous focus and maturity.

In truth, Wednesday’s four matches were a touch of pure class and a breath of fresh air in what has been an overly chaotic week.

Biggest Shock

Westland FC’s 3-0 thumping of Dawtex was by far Wednesday’s biggest shock.

Going into the day the teams were only separated by 4 points, and in all honesty, a draw looked in order.

However, judging by Wednesday’s display, the two teams could not be any further apart.

Stronger, faster, more technical, and much more precise, Westland outclassed their opponents in every single aspect.

The win, which will go down as one of Westland’s most prized moments of the season thus far, will hopefully carry them forward and guide them in their quest to get up and out of the grips of relegation.

Most Important Victory

Zein FC’s two-goal triumph over Great Farcos definitely appears to be the most important victory of the day.

Both teams had previously endured equally lack luster first round campaigns and Wednesday provided a grand opportunity for one of the sides to make a massive statement.

Zein rose to the occasion and undeniably grabbed their opportunity by the horns.

The win was certainly not easy, but beating a hard-nosed Great Farcos side will bring the Zein camp much needed confidence and self-belief for the long road to come.

Nail-Biter of the Day

Every match day needs a nail-biter and match day 14 provided it in the form of Dynasty FC versus Auroras.

Hearts were in mouths as both sides dueled it out in this truly back and forth affair, but in the end it was Dynasty who were able to compose themselves just enough to squeak out the lone, crucial goal.

Yes, it was shaky, timid, and not the least bit decisive, nevertheless a win is a win and Dynasty will take it without any complaints.

The Only Draw

Desert Warriors FC and Accra Youth played out Wednesday’s one and only draw, and despite being a low scoring 1-1 affair, was by no means a boring match.

There were obvious glimmers of quality and watching it, one got the sense that goals could come at any moment.

Although the goal threat never quite panned out, it was still a topnotch clash and one which will leave both sets of fans feeling proud and inspired.

The Table

Match day 14 created numerous changes to the middle of the table, yet the top and bottom remain unblemished.

Emmanuel’s commanding win on Saturday keeps them in 1st, with Dynasty, Newtown Youth, and Accra Youth sitting unmoved in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

Golden Boys’ clobbering of Lenient boosts them up a position to 5th, while a loss lowers Lenient to 6th.

Zein’s impressive home victory sees them up to 7th, but their victims, Great Farcos, fall down to 8th.

FCM Maamobi’s loss likewise drops them one spot to 9th, with Auroras, Desert Warriors, Westland, Dawtex, and finally Powerlines remaining in 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th respectively.
