Griezmann: I've been putting up with speculation for too long, enough is enough

Published on: 23 November 2020

Antoine Griezmann's start to his Barcelona career has been anything but smooth. Since joining in a 120 million euro deal from Atletico Madrid, the Frenchman has struggled on the pitch and there have been rumours of a rift with Leo Messi.

Yet after much speculation, the World Cup winner has decided to speak publicly about these comments as well as other accusations of him.

Griezmann is set to be the star of the latest edition of Universo Valdano, a show hosted by former Real Madrid great Jorge Valdano, where he will discuss his situation.

"I said during my presentation that I wanted to do my talking on the pitch and not off of it, but I think it is time to put things in place," he stated in the trailer to the show.

"I've been putting up with various things and comments for a long time and [now] I've said enough is enough."

Since joining the Catalans in the summer of 2019, his below par performances have made him an easy target for Barcelona's shortcomings, which is something that the Frenchman wants to address.

On more than one occasion, there has been talk of a lack of understanding with Messi, and incompatibility with the Argentine on the field, with many mentioning that Griezmann is playing out of position due to the No.10's occupancy of the central role.

He has not been helped either by several people close to him who have spoken to the press about problems with Messi.

The show is set to air at 23:00 CET on Monday, November 23.
