Guardiola demands Man City beat Man Utd to Maksimovic deal

Manchester United and Manchester City are going head-to-head for Torino defender Nikola Maksimovic.

Tuttosport says incoming City manager Pep Guardiola has requested his signing, having considered Maksimovic while in charge of Bayern Munich.

At United, meanwhile, it's claimed Jose Mourinho is a big fan and convinced Maksimovic has a lot of room for improvement. If he is installed as manager, Mourinho will push United to go for Maksimovic.

Toro president Urbano Cairo will insist on bids beginning from €25 million.

Maksimovic joined Toro from Red Star Belgrade for €4 million in 2013.
