Sunderland record signing Asamoah Gyan insists he can forge a partnership with Darren Bent.

The win over West Ham at the weekend was the first time they had started a match together, and it also does not happen much in training, but Gyan believes, given time, they will be able to hit it off up front.

He told the Journal: "Against Wolves I played a couple of minutes with him (Bent) and it worked a bit, I made an assist and he got a great finish.

"I hope it continues. We need to get used to the partnership.

"We're getting on well although we don't normally play together in training. We're normally on different sides playing with other people. But I hope it continues in the matches. We need to see how the partnership works."
