Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan has been left disappointed after Didier Drogba was disqualified from contesting in the upcoming Ivory Coast Football Federation (FIF) presidential elections.

Drogba, who captained Ivory Coast to their first-ever World Cup in 2006, was rejected on the grounds of not fulfilling his long list of eligibility criteria.

The Chelsea legend has five days to appeal the decision and Gyan has expressed his support and called for a fair playing ground.

According to Gyan, is now a free agent after parting ways with Indian side NorthEast United in January, football legends such as Drogba deserve a place in administration.

“Football legends deserve a place in the administration, Didier Drogba has seen it all with the national team and club teams,” Gyan wrote in support of the Chelsea legend.

“I am for his transition into management and support his bid... allow a fair playing ground and let the people/association decide.”

Drogba, 42, retired from football in 2018. He won 105 caps and scored 65 goals for Ivory Coast.
