Asante Kotoko youth team coach, Karim Zito, believes Asamoah Gyan fell short of a world class striker in Sunday's AFCON stalemate against DR Congo.Â
The former Sunderland striker, 27, missed an early sitter and squandered a flurry of opportunities that fell to him as the Black Stars allowed DR Congo to claw back to snatch a 2-2 draw at the Port Elizabeth Bay Stadium on Sunday.
Ghana's best chance of the game fell to Gyan on the 41st minute mark as a Derek Boateng defense-splitting weighted cross found him in space but the Al Ain man failed to bury the ball into the net.
Karim Zito, who is Kotoko's development and reserves coach says Gyan's slow pace let him down.
"Gyan delayed on that chance too much. And he had a split second to make that decision as a result he went for placement and missed," he told Accra-based Happy FM.
However, the Black Stars captain has insisted there is still confidence in Ghana's camp despite the  team's disappointing performance.
