Gyan's retirement could profit local hero Baffour

Asamoah Gyan's decision to call temporal time on his international career could prove the lifeline for in-form New Edubiase striker Emmanuel Baffour.

The youngster continued his hot-goal scoring form by netting his 13th goal of the season in his side's 2-1 defeat at AshantiGold on Sunday.

Baffour was dropped from the Black Stars on a pre-Africa Cup of Nations camping in South Africa.

The Black Stars are now in search of a top-notch striker to fill the void that will be created with the exit of the Al Ain attacker.

Gyan says the continual abuse of himself and his family following his penalty miss in the semi-final game against Zambia was enough grounds for him to quit the national team.

Baffour could be drafted in to replace Gyan ahead of the 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifiers and the 2014 World cup qualifiers.
