Morocco legend  Mustapha Hadji has warned 2012 Africa Cup of Nations favourites Ivory Coast and Ghana not underrate the unfancied sides in next month’s tournament.

The two west African powerhouses are regarded as the overwhelming favourites for the tournament in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Although the former striker shares similar opinion, he is also making room for a few surprises.

"Obviously Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire start as favourites considering they have several quality players in their team," he told MTNFootball.com.

"However the smaller teams can cause many surprises because they are not under pressure to perform unlike Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire.

"And a team performs better at tournaments when they are relaxed."

The Africa Cup of Nations starts on 21 January and ends on 12 February.
