Rotterdam-born Halil Dervisoglu qualifies to play for Turkey through his family heritage

Brentford have agreed a deal to sign Halil Dervisoglu from Dutch Eredivisie side Sparta Rotterdam in January 2020.

The 19-year-old Turkey youth international scored 11 goals in 36 appearances last season as Sparta were promoted via the play-offs.

The terms of the forward's move to the Championship club and the length of his contract are undisclosed.

Meanwhile, forward Ollie Watkins has signed a new four-year contract with the west London club.

The 23-year-old, who has scored 23 goals in 94 outings since joining the Bees from Exeter in 2017, was the subject of interest during the summer transfer window.

Brentford have the option to extend his new deal, which runs until the summer of 2023, by a further year.

"I am very confident that Ollie can grow into a top number nine," head coach Thomas Frank told BBC Radio London.

"We played him there last season on a couple of occasions and he has all the abilities to be a striker."

On Dervisoglu, Frank told the club website: "Halil is a great talent and there is more to come from him.

"I have a lot of faith in the players we have as our attacking options for the next few months, and he will be able to improve and develop in the Dutch league and play regularly."
