Hamann: Bayern should break the bank to extend Alaba's deal

Bayern München should make David Alaba one of their top earners if that's what it takes to make him sign a new deal, says Dietmar Hamann.

Dietmar Hamann believes Bayern München should 'break the bank' to extend David Alaba's contract beyond 2021.

'The Bavarians' are set to sit down for talks with Alaba in the near future and should be willing to spend big to meet the 27-year-old's demands, according to the former German international.

"He has become the head of the team, the most important player in defence. He makes the others better by leading the team," Hamann told AZ and continued:

"Bayern have to break the bank to tie Alaba down to a new deal. He wants to become one of the top earners of the squad, and that's what he deserves."

Alaba has played 365 games for Bayern, racking up 30 goals and 48 assists.
