Hamburg SV manager Dieter Hecking has jumped to the defence of German born Ghanaian defender Gideon Jung after a disappointing 1-1 draw against Hannover on Saturday.

The most experienced player at Hamburg was singled out for criticism by fans following the stalemate.

But manager Dieter Hecking disregarded comments from the critics insisting the versatile player impressed despite dropping two points.

“I find it very presumptuous what some people take out, who are probably 50 kilograms overweight and are sitting in front of the computer. They should just have a look at themselves, ”Hecking had said during a press round.

"Gidi has his qualities, which he showed very impressively in Hanover."

The 25-year old recently returned from injury and has made 18 appearances for the former Bundesliga side this season, scoring a goal in the Bundesliga II.
