Defender Harrison Afful was sent off before half time but defending champions Columbus Crew rallied from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Isaac Atanga's FC Cincinnati in the MLS on Friday, 9 July 2021.

The right back picked his first yellow card in the 17th minute as the visitors launched a move to cancel out Edgar Castillo's early goal in the opening minute.

Afful earned his second yellow and a red in the 43rd minute for bundling Acosta over from behind.

In the first minute of stoppage time, Zelarayan unleashed an unstoppable first-time shot from all of 30 yards to give the visitors some hope heading into the interval.

Columbus Crew snatched the equalizer in the 77th minute when Zelarayan played an inch-perfect through ball into the area and Miguel Berry cooly dinked a shot over the advancing Kenneth Vermeer.

Ghana international Jonathan Mensah captained the Crew and lasted the entire duration.

Winger Atanga was replaced after 72 minutes by Brandon Vazquez for the home side.
