Hazard's promising season debut

Published on: 28 October 2020

Eden Hazard returned to action on Tuesday night as he came on as a late substitute for Real Madrid.

Zinedine Zidane surprisingly introduced Hazard into the game in the 70th minute, when he replaced Vinicius Junior at Borussia-Park after a number of months on the sidelines.

Hazard did well in the 24 minutes that he was on the pitch, and the Belgium international almost set up a goal for Karim Benzema, but the Frenchman could only find the side netting.

The 29-year-old had not featured for Los Blancos since August 7, when they were eliminated from the Champions League after failing to mount a comeback in the second leg of their last-16 tie against Manchester City.

Hazard was set to make his return against Real Valladolid in late September, however more injury problems kept him from featuring in that game.

He made his debut for Real Madrid against Levante last season, when he came on as a second-half substitute after signing from Chelsea that summer.

Hazard's career in the Spanish capital has been plagued by injuries, and the forward has been able to play just 38 percent of his team's matches since his arrival in 2019.

Real Madrid believe that Hazard has finally ended his injury ordeal and that he can now be the player that everyone expects him to be.
