Heart of Lions President Randy Abbey hopes the win over AshantiGold over the weekend marks the end of the side's woeful run.

The Kpando-based club have endured a difficult spell in recent times.

Lions had not won a match in their last five game prior to their win over AshantiGold on Sunday.

The important win comes at an opportune time and President Randy Abbey hopes its the start to a run of good results to come.

"It was an important win. We've had a string of draws and some loses so this win was very important," he said.

"We needed to turn things around and. This came against the league leaders who have been playing well.

"We hope that this marks the turn around we need and start getting the wins."

Lions will be given a stern test in their next game when they face relegation-threatened Hearts of Oak on Wednesday in Cape Coast.
