Hearts and Kotoko facing Ghana FA rap for disregarding COVID protocols to play friendlies

The Ghana Football Association is set to hand punishments to giants Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko for defying a Covid-19 directive to play friendly matches.

Clubs are directed to undergo mandatory Covid-19 tests before the restart of the season.

The Football Association has stated clearly in its COVID-19 protocols that two teams will not be allowed to engage each other unless they have a seal of approval indicating they have undergone all safety measures including the tests.

Hearts of Oak played and beat lower side Banana Inn FC 4-2 on Saturday, 20 March 2021 at the St Thomas Aquinas Park.

Goals from Eric Dizan, Kwadwo Obeng Jnr and a brace from Isaac Mensah sealed the win.

Earlier that day, Kotoko thumped Kumasi Ebony 5-2 at the club's Adako Jachie training ground.

Also on Sunday,Karela United are set to defy the order from the Football Association as they have lined up a friendly against third-tier side Tarkwa United at the Akoon Park.
