Hearts break All Stars jinx with ten men

Hearts of Oak held on with ten men to beat All Stars 1-0 to record their first win at the Wa Park in four seasons.

Striker Mahatma Otoo returned to the score sheet after 34 minutes when All Stars goalkeeper mis-timed his jump.

Otoo, who has come under pressure for his poor conversion rate, coolly turned home for the winner.

Three minutes after that, Hearts were numerically reduced after Philip Boampong was marched off for a second yellow card offence.

The centre-back went in with a big boot clearance and that was not tolerated by the centre man.

The goal was a travesty for All Stars who took charge of the game and was denied a penalty after Samuel Ezemaba pushed Samuel Gyasi of the ball in the 18-yard box.

Referee Ametepey did not take any of the penalty shouts from the fans and players of All Stars.

In the 32nd minute, goal scorer Otoo came in with an over head kick and a real chance fell to Darkeh but he failed to get there on time for a simple tap in.

Just after the break, a golden chance fell to Azumah but poor control lets him down.

Hearts goalkeeper Sammy Adjei put up a man-of-match display by denied All Stars goals in the second half.

The win will keep Hearts in third place and two points behind leaders Asante Kotoko and are tied on points with second-place Berekum Chelsea.
