Hearts of Oak captain Mahatma Otoo is putting the team’s success ahead of his personal ambition to be Goal King.

The 20-year-old has started the season in explosive fashion – scoring a hat-trick in the 5-2 mauling of New Edubiase last Sunday.

Otoo now leads the Premier League goalscoring chart after two rounds of matches but says helping the team win reigns supreme over his personal ambition to emerge the top goalscorer at the end of the campaign.

“As I said before the league started, my main focus is to help the team,” he said.

“If I am able to help the team and at the end of the season there is any personal award then so be it but the focus is to help the team.

“We have a very good technical team and a coach who is always encouraging the players.

“So I believe we will do very well this season.”

Otoo will be needed at his best again on Saturday where he could help Hearts seize top spot when they play Ebusua Dwarfs at the Tema Park.
