Hearts of Oak’s chairman, Togbe Afede XIV has charged the team to start picking up wins against Real Tamale United on Sunday.

The Phobians have struggled to get going so far this season – winning just once, drawing another and losing three in the Ghanaian top flight.

The team’s alarming state of decline has seen coach CK Akunnor become the first coaching casualty of the season as he was sacked following an emergency meeting of the board on Wednesday.

The side has now been handed temporarily to assistant coach Ben Adjei who will lead the side out for the first time against RTU this Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Togbe Afede XIV however wants to see a vast improvement of the side following the changes made to the technical team from the onset with the mouthwatering clash with Asante Kotoko looming large.

“I have spoken to the acting coach (Ben Adjei) and we’ve emphasized absolute commitment to the course of Hearts, we’ve emphasized hard work,” he told Angel FM.

“Those are the principles that will guide the technical team and will definitely guide the playing body and I am looking forward to all of us to seeing a different team come Sunday (against RTU).

“It is not in my nature to try to make predictions but the most important thing is that we must see an improvement in play on Sunday.

“That will give us hope come the weekend that follows where we will engage Asante Kotoko.

“I believe Hearts of Oak will rise to the occasion, remember our motto says ‘Never Say Die’.”

Hearts currently lie just a place above the relegation zone with just four points out of a possible fifteen.
