The unfamiliar strips donned by Hearts of Oak players for the new Premier League season is a deliberate move by the club to mark it's centenary year.

A lot of calm is now prevailing following management's explanation to fans who deemed the new colours as strange and feared the club was losing its identity.

The strips however are actually that of the 70's squad and management hopes the current crop will take inspiration from their achievements to win laurels for the club at the end of the campaign.

"The strips being worn are that of the famous 70's squad and we took the decision to use it this season to principally mark the centenary year," Hearts CEO Fred Crentsil exclusively told GHANAsoccernet.com.

"We hope the boys would also derive some inspiration from this change knowing their wearing the jerseys of the Famous Five."

The club has resolved to make similar changes every year before the start of the Premier League.

The new home strip will be outdoored on Sunday when Hearts play against Mighty Jets.
