A section of Hearts of Oak supporters where seen throwing missiles at referee Charles Dowouna after their 2-0 defeat to Liberty Professionals on Sunday night at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The insane gesture was in protest of Dowouna’s decision to send off Owusu Sefa for a rash tackle on Daniel Gyamfi on the stroke of halftime.

The match officials had to be held on the pitch for about five minutes until such a time the missile throwing has ceased before being ushered to the dressing room under heavy security protection.

The insane gesture was continued when the match officials were ushered in from the tunnel for the second half.

Missile throwing is gradually becoming an accepted feature in this season’s league since authorities have failed to punish offenders for their unruly behavior.

A similar scene occurred during Hearts’ home game against Asante Kotoko where several missiles were thrown onto the field of play in protest of a referee decision.
