Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy is determined to earn a recall into the Black Stars after a two-year absence.

The shot-stopper enjoyed a terrific campaign with the capital-based side until he tore his right finger during a Premier League game against arch-rivals Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara stadium.

But the 28-year-old is fit again and believes he can stake a claim in the Black Stars ahead of the next qualifiers for the 2013 African Cup of Nations and crucially the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

“I am going stronger and stronger and I believe when the season start, I should be on top to earn a call-up into the national team," McCarthy said

“The season is over and so the concentration is to build on my form at training. I have no doubt in my mind that my performance will speak for itself,”

The ex-Feyernord glovesman holds two senior caps.
