Hearts midfielder Esme Mends is expected to begin training in the coming days as he steps up his recovery process.

The 22-year-old has spent the last few months in the treatment room after he underwent a successful operation in France.

The combative midfielder is expected to step up his rehabilitation as he eyes a quicker-than-expected return to the pitch.

If everything go as planned, the midfielder could feature for the side during the second round of the Ghana Premier League as his experience will be required to aid the campaign of the Phobians.
